For the past 39 years the Lake in the Hills/Algonquin Jr Eagles Youth Football Program has provided a great youth football program for boys and girls in our community. The Lake in the Hills/Algonquin Jr Eagles Youth Football Program provides an opportunity for kids from 5-14 years old to participate in flag or tackle football. The players are grouped by age and weight (for tackle) as well as by skill level (for tackle) to ensure the opportunity for kids of like development to play with and against each other to avoid discouragement while allowing for growth.
The Chicagoland Youth Football League:
Our Tackle program participates in the largest league in Illinois, The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL).
The TCYFL provides both developmental and competitive divisions and strives to teach the fundamentals of football all while keeping players safe and having a great time.
Every Child Plays:
While winning is exciting it should never be done at the expense of a child.
Football Has Never Been Safer:
The fear of injury, specifically head injuries, has been widespread. Most times people are referring to football of the past. In recent years the game has evolved into a safer sport. In fact, it is safer now than it has ever been!
Concussion Awareness:
The Jr Eagles take safety and the threat of concussion very seriously. We strive to reduce concussion frequency and severity in both games and practices.
To increase awareness and reduce the risk of concussions we:
*Require Training for all Coaches-
100% of our Coaches are USA Football "Heads Up Football" Certified to teach proper tackling skills to reduce injuries. This is in addition to three required training sessions prior to being allowed to coach. All coaches must pass a background check as well.
*IMPACT Testing-
IMPACT testing is provided through the TCYFL to all tackle players. IMPACT testing helps with diagnosis and treatment in the event of a player concussion.
* Certified Athletic Trainers-
Certified Athletic Trainers are at all games for care and subjective analysis of injured players which takes the emotional decisions out of the coaches hands.
*Provide Concussion Protocol-
We provide parents an indication of what is expected in terms of return time and progression to the field after a player is released by a doctor.
* Helmets-
Brand New Riddell Speed Flex Helmets were purchased for our 2022 Fall Season to ensure the best protection possible.
Facilitate Safe Practices-
We promote hitting/blocking pads and dummies rather than players during practices.
